Check Engine Light/Service Engine Soon Light

The dreaded yellow light on the dash – is the car going to blow up? Will I make it home before the car dies? If I just ignore it, will it go away? No, it will not blow up. Yes, you will typically make it home. You can ignore it, but we don’t recommend it. If this light comes up on your dash display, come by the shop for a free scan of your vehicle. We can then tell you if the codes will require further investigation or if there is a simple fix. If we do need to do further diagnostic work, there is a charge, however we always do our best to keep you and your budget in mind.

Diagnostics

In order to figure out what is wrong with your vehicle, whether it is electically-related, engine-related or another area, we have to spend time figuring out the reason for the malfunction. This takes time and we have to charge for that time. Some places will tell you that there is no charge for the diagnostic work, as long as you approve the recommended fix. Unfortunately, that is not true – they merely add it to the cost of the repair. We feel that honesty is always the best policy, therefore we should always be honest about how we charge for the work we perform. We do our best to discuss with the customer approximately how long it will take to figure out a problem before we begin the work so that the surprises stay to a minimum. We also will charge less if we find the solution faster than anticipated.
